For us women, what is going to be next if they win this one, they decide we don't need to vote anymore? What am I talking about??? Well look what I came across in the breaking news section today. An interesting read to say the least ~ the woman who changed the law to finally legalize abortion has how many years later had a change of heart and now wants to make it ILLEGAL!!! :uhoh3
I do not believe that woman should use abortions as a form of birth control, however, I do believe that there are situations where abortions are necessary and having a safe and clean environment with a REAL doctor present is as important in those situations as having the same thing for cancer patients, heart patients and the like.
What about those women who have illness that it boils down to the baby or the mother if not both ~ are they trying to say that someone who doesn't even know this person other than a visit and information on paper is going to choose who lives or dies? Why is it important to take that right away from the woman once again? Could it be because now Jane Doe doesn't need to obtain an abortion? Or is it that they see the world going to hell in a hand basket and they figure REVERTING back in time would benifit us as women? I think NOT!!!
Are these people to include the famous Jane Doe who changed the law for the better of women ~ as she herself had stated ~ it is a woman's choice!!! So now she thinks that women who have been violently raped ~ violated to the core of their beings ~ should wind up pregnant should carry the child as a constant reminder of the horror they will live with for the rest of their lives without a baby being brought into the world? Where the rapist can continue to torment the mother by exersicing their father parental rights? Rather he is in jail or not has the right *GAWD KNOWS WHY* but hey he does to demand his rights be enforced.
I'm sorry I just find this whole Jane Doe taking such a charge to remove the law that she fought to obtain is a way for her to seek more 15 minutes of fame and history breaking issues again. For what purpose though?
I personally do not know if I could ever go through with an abortion, but at least as it stands right now, if ever in a position where it would be a possiblity I would like to be the one who makes that decision, not people who have NO CLUE about my life, my situation etc. telling me I am a murder and don't value life.
What do you think about this new issue being raised once again but with a whole new ball of wax on the band wagon?

I'm with you here, lady.
My 2 cents on this subject...since ya have a comment section ;-):
I do not personally agree with abortion, for ME. Logic dictates then, that the best thing for me to do is NOT HAVE ONE. But it is NOT for me or for the government to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body. I think that's up to the gal in question and her God to deal with.
*steps down off soap-box and hands control back over to Jet* ;-)
About damn time someone is talking about this. Well, until I can get pregnant... I still say let those that can have a choice. Though I doubt this will be overturned... not if several officials want to be re-elected again.
Actually, what I came here for was to tell you:
BOO! GET OFF YOUR BLOG!!!! YOU SUCK!!!
You have been officially heckled on International Heckling Day.
No, you were heckled. Do not try to come back with something clever, or I shall return to heckle you some more.
I am one who believes in allowing women to have the choice, but not to use it as a means of birth control. I have posted about this already, If you wish to, give it a read. The comment box was burning up!
Hmm. seems it didn't take the link. Oh well. Here's the addy

It's a choice each woman has to make for herself. As long as she knows the consequences of it. Having an abortion is not a choice that is made once and then goes away.
Among the women I know who have had abortions (four), they think about it EVERY DAY. They have thoughts of guilt, regret, they think about how old their offspring would be now, they notice other people's babies everywhere.
Something being legal doesn't make it easier. Safer? Maybe, from a hygenic standpoint. But even without the moral argument, abortion is still a numbing choice that should be weilded with great care and consideration.
I completely agree with you T-Bone. It is not a choice that should be taken lightly or to be considered "a quick" fix as it is something that will be with you for the rest of your life. I too have friends who have had one, I myself, do not think I could go through with one. But if the case ever rose at least I'd have a choice right now ~ And the part of "something being legal doesn't make it easier" hits it dead on the money!!!! Dr. D ~ I remember the discussion over on your site, I hope those who read my blog that don't know of yours, which are few if any, will read your post and comments!!! Thank you everyone for your comments!
This is a GREAT post, Jamie! I totally agree with you. I've never had to consider the option of a divorce, but I would have wanted to be the person in charge of my body.
Choice is what this is all about. Women need to have the right to determine their destinies. Personally, choosing to have an abortion would have been very difficult for me. If I had been raped, I would have given it serious thought. I wouldn't have wanted my child to perpetuate his or her father's genes and tendencies.
T-bone.....abortion is an awful thing to endure. You're right that some women suffer daily after making that choice, but the woman who has to bear a baby from rape suffers equally. Every day she will be reminded of the rape, even if she gives the baby up for adoption. If she chooses to raise the child, she will be held hostage by the rapist. Let women, especial those who are victims of rape, have the opportunity to choose for themselves how to deal with it.
Hey Jamie, where's Patti?
I don't believe I have more to add beyond what I said at Dr. D's discussion...
physical health issues are potentially at stake and mental health issues, and bottom line (my perspective) choice is essential.
Jamie, I don't understand it, but I can't find your email addy anywhere. Send me a mail, nuh, and I will send you that thing in reply. Ta ta...
I personally have never been pregnant and because I have never been in that situation, I'm not sure how I'd feel... But I do agree that women should have the totaly freedom and right to make a choice as to what is best for them and their bodies... If the government starts telling us we HAVE to have children, who's to say they won't turn around and start telling us we CAN'T have them?... They don't belong in that part of our lives... Just my 2 cents
