The Joys Of The Holidays

| | Comments (4)

I'm still looking for these "joys" actually and as hard as I search I'm coming up empty. :shakehead So over my morning :coffee I figured I'd let you in on our challange to getting our house decorated.

But before we get into that drama ~ something mom sent to me this morning to start off my day with a smile :smile. Go check it out :lol

The outside lights have been up for a little bit thanks to Speedbump :smile. However, the inside has been a slower process. Saturday I went on a search for all the items for the house thinking Speedbump got everything down from the attic, however, I was missing pretty much all my decorations. Not a happy camper was I :angry.

So the rest of Saturday was a search high and low for the Christmas decorations. I found the items for the tree we don't have yet, I also found plenty of lights and greenery, but none of my items that get placed around the house. I have several small Christmas trees, two I put in the kids room and one that holds all my 12 Days of Christmas Precious Moments decorations that I was going to put in the kitchen window. To no avail no where to be found.

So yesterday after giving up on Saturday I went on a search and destroy mission. I finally found the small Christmas trees, the handmade Santa's and a few other items, but NO stocking holders. :angry And those ton of Christmas lights I found I informed Speedbump I wanted him to put them on our one lowly tree in our front yard. He incorporated Q15's help on this assigned task only to have them both to argue with me about adding more lights. My mood already "if'ey" at best went over the edge at this time by saying "JUST DO IT DAMNIT".

For the record all you women out there, be careful what you wish for with men doing it under protest. I walked outside to find my "crew" over at a neighbors house having a grand ol time after hanging the lights on the tree. I walked over to boast about their job when I turned around and looked at the tree. Our neighbors backed away when they heard awful gasp escape my lips as I turned and said to hubby and Q15 "You are surely not done RIGHT?" I was quickly informed "ohhh yes they were!" At this time I could have :pummel both of them on the spot. That lowly tree in my front yard had only THREE strands of lights on it at the very bottom. I THINK NOT it looked TACKY!!!! I informed them either hang more lights or take them down and put the lights across the garage door. They moaned/groaned and complained and as I walked away I just yelled over my shoulder just do it before anyone see's that tacky tree!!!!

Now back inside on my search for the lost Christmas stocking holders!!! I went through every closet, container, box and nook and cranny in this house. Found my tiny Christmas lamps :smile, but still no stocking holders. Sent Speedbump back up in the attic ~ after a large exchange of words between the two of us ~ found more Christmas items he swore were not up there but still NO stocking holders. Now I'm ticked.

So speedbump stomped into the house and said just for you I'm going to clean out my closet and see if they are possibly in my closet. Of course me in my nice attitude *note the sarcasm* stated it was about time but what ever floats his boat!!!

About 30 minutes later he produced my stocking holders :smile ~ I'm a happier camper now and even got his closet cleaned in the process :biggrin. I came to realize there is actually a floor in his closet miracles never cease to amaze me.

Little Ms. Prissy Princess is so excited to get a tree so I guess that will be our next enjoyable *again note the huge amount of sarcasm* Christmas outing. I figured we'd do it tonight, however, we have to attend one of those very enjoyable school Christmas concerts :puke. I guess if it is over early enough we'll head out to the Christmas tree lot and obtain the tree and then I get to listen to Speedbump moan groan and complain about adding lights to the tree. That is always a wonderful experience around our house HA!!! A great deal of screaming and cussing seems to transpire during this event, as well as, some silent treatments, pouting and throwing of items once in awhile. Yes Christmas traditions to live for in one's life :biggrin.

During this time of year I can't even talk "T'sey" to come into town to visit. She did one year and swore she'd never come to my house again until it was completely decorated, something about I get to "stressed" :shrug

Whatever does she mean????? :biglaugha

Anyhoot, today hopefully the house will finish getting all the deocrations up and tonight I'll take photo's to show off the events we lived through getting them up. Taking them down is also a joyful event around our house also :biggrin.

I sure hope everyone else has better luck with their decorations than I've had this year. And I won't even get into the "shopping" issue I still have to do :cry.

WHY IS IT THAT MOST NUDISTS ARE PEOPLE YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE NAKED?

Now we know why some people find Christmas a stressful time of year! ;-)

Jamie dear...I'm allot of things...stupid is NOT one of them *s*
I'm sure I'll be seeing you this holiday season (sometime)
but not till the house is DONE! LOL

congrats on the closet though...I'm sure it took a minor miracle at the least

lmao@you I can so picture you gasping and huffing into the house all over a friggen TREE! Take a prozac! I am amazed that the closet did get clean. I do wonder... does the fish get any lights around it?

Sounds like a bit too much adventure in the decorating! But... when you can get decorating done and a closet cleaned out all in one fell swoop, then awesome!
