The Woes Of A Mother With Child Learning To Drive

|

So our family is undergoing yet more changes. Q16 is not only about to turn 17, but is now going thru drivers education. :shakehead

So if you care to be amused and for those who don't have children have even yet another reason to be thankful read further.......

The first explination I need to give is why he is about to turn 17 and just now getting his drivers education. Well it has something to do with him choosing to take my car out of a PARKING SPACE and WRECKING MY car!!! Then to add insult to injury leaves the scene of a wreck without informing anyone about it only for us to find out by the cops we have a hit and run report on my vehicle. :angry

We were able to talk with the police and explain the situation, luckily the cop had a child Q16's age and understood. He put us in touch with the owners of the other vehicle which just happened to be new :let_it_all_out. We were lucky it only cost us a "small" fortune but a "small" fortune we didn't have to spare for stupidity!!!!

So we live through that emotionally, physically and financially with the rule he had to wait another year before obtaining any drivers education AT ALL!!! So here we are now ~ Q16 in drivers ed with a learners permit burning a hole in his pocket to get behind the wheel.

Soooo last night, without any alcohol I might add, I make the deadly mistake of telling him he can drive me to the corner store. Let me just say NEVER AGAIN!!! The story goes like this.......

We pull out of the drive way and he is creeping along the road at maybe 5 miles a hour, which I inform him he can pick up the speed just a tad, but he doesn't so I don't push it. We make it to the corner store just fine no major screams of terror and in one piece.

I go in get my much needed chocolate and come out for the drive home. I mean he did such a good job with only minor errors to the CORNER STORE the drive home will be fine. He has only riden this road a thousand times!!!

So we pull out where he almost takes off my side of the car on the curb because he was turning to much to the right. I'm telling him straighten it up straighten it up NOW!!! He becomes tense, luckily no cars are behind us as of yet.......he hugs the center line and then decides he is going to use both lanes again I yell pick a side and stay in it!!! He is trying ~ I'm telling him to turn on his turn signal as our street is coming up and I'm looking in the rear view mirror to see traffic picking up behind us QUICKLY when I look in front of us only to see DARKNESS!!!!!! :scared Instead of turning on the turn signal and moving into to the turning lane, he turns off the lights panics and comes to a COMPLETE STOP!!!!!! :pummel

I of course react like any full blooded person watching vehicles approaching at a fast rate I start screaming, leaning over him to turn on the lights and he just sits there ~ so I scream drive idioit and get the car in the turning lane before we get killed and kill someone else!!!!

As you can tell we managed to get in the turning lane and on the street leading to our turn off to the house. I'm breathing a bit heavy and heart thumping which only clarified I do have a heart *for those that think otherwise* only for my son to make me almost make me crap my pants...

We make it to our street and I'm thinking he is going to hit the break and slow down since I mean really leaving if he hit 5 miles an hour we were really moving....only to find out he wasn't nor DID he and we take the turn going 20 miles an hour and almost on two wheels........:scared

Again we survive that only for him to just about hit our house wall trying to put my car in the garage........it is there that I tell him get out of the car and I'll park it and NEVER again ask me to drive my car until some other idioit I'm paying has you behind their wheel!!!!

So to say things around our house are never boring this is just a blimp on our rador around here remember I still also have Ms. Prissy Princess doing her magical wonders, other teenagers at our house and other little tots running around and that doesn't even count our four legged/furry babies!!!

I hope this finds everyone well and happy and having a wonderful summer!!!!

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF PEDESTRIANS ~ THE QUICK AND THE DEAD!
