:angry Our team has a new pitching assistant coach this year, he was built up to be some great coach over the summer, along with him coming he was also providing our team with a "stud" of a baseball player. Primarily a pitcher who just ROCKS!!! Yes, they are father and son and the son being a senior! They were brought up from the valley area, where most talented kids don't get much attention from scouts and the like. No big deal at the time, the team seemed really excited about having the senior on the team and over the summer he seemed to be fitting in wonderfully with the boys. Since they primarily hung out over here I was able to watch the bonding of the team and the excitement of the team building chomping at the bit to hit the field together. I also saw the demise of the team being to form early during the scrimage games.
To give credit where credit is do, I kept my mouth shut, (yes I know don't faint) as I don't know much about baseball and even less about coaching. However I DO know my boys!!! I refrained from forming an opinion of any sort until I was at the games and was able to see if what the boys were talking about was really happening, or if they had issues with the senior and wanted to point blame other than themselves. I figured that was in the parent handbook of being a responsible parent :smile.
Well I have missed two games, tonight making the second game I missed. Which from what I have heard it is a very good thing I wasn't there or else I would have gone postal!!! If Speedbump was about ready to ripe a coachs head off and shit down his throat and he is the calm one in the bunch, we can just all imagine what I would have done :angry!!!
Anyhoot, it has been a long going process, however, let me explain what has been happening.
As we all know, Q17 is the catcher and closing pitcher. The senior in question is considered the star pitcher, yet when he isn't pitching he plays short stop. He leads the team in errors and well tonight the conclusion of a game started on Friday night, which got rained out in the top of the 9th inning, he managed to fumble an important play and we lost the game. Now mind you, there is a great deal of history going on here that has been deleted and I'm fully aware that baseball players have off nights, tonight was not one of those nights and to make matters worse, his father Assistant coach told him shake it off not a problem you didn't mean to do that. :rolling eyes
Then to add insult to injury Q17 was put in as the closing pitcher tonight. He pitches at slow speed 92 and has a fast ball no one can touch and if they can it is like the main coach says make 'em work for it. Well tonight the Assistant "pitching" coach won't let Q17 throw a fast ball at all. With winds blowing about 80 miles an hour (okay a slight streatch of the truth, but not by much) the idioit coach has him throw nothing but curve balls. As he is congradulating his son he then begins to jump Q17's ass telling him he pitch awful and couldn't hit his mark at all and that he lost the game. VERY VERY VERY :angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mind you this is on the heels of Friday night when Q17 the catcher calls time and walks out on the mound to "control the pitcher" basically telling him to pitch the signs he gives him not just throw what he wants. Note pitcher in question is the senior Assistant coachs son. After the inning the team is coming off the field and the coach gets right in Q17's face and begins to ripe him to shreds. It wasn't till after the game we found out what was said ~ it isn't Q17's place to talk to the pitcher and he needed to stay behind the plate and do his job there and leave senior to do his job. The followed it up with forbidding him to call time to speak to senior on the mound. Yet when they bring in the next pitcher, the assistant called time and called Q17 over to scream at him to control the pitcher or else get on the bench.
Yeah I'm one PISSED OFF MAMA!!!! It is like Q17 told me tonight he is damed if he does and damed if he doesn't and he feels like just saying "fuck it" because senior can do no wrong and is treated as such. :pummel
Luckily, this time, after Speedbump and his dad have seen it first hand Speedbump is having a conference with the head coach tomorrow. I'm of course staying clear because I will seriously hurt someone.
Now don't get me wrong, if Q17 makes an error I expect him to be treated just like any other team member even if it means him sitting the bench for such error. But to have a coach treat him so unfairly on every game my patiences and understand have been stretched to the limits. Even with Speedbump, however, we know Mr. Baseball thinks I'm exgaterating (however you spell it) when I come home from a game and tell him the events at the game. Yet when he sees it all the sudden it is something that he has believed the whole time and feels it is now time to talk to the coach and he'll handle it from here. Just like he tells Q17 that he taught him how to talk to adults with respect. Yeah that went over well :rollingeyes. Yeah Q17 was just a hellion until Speed showed up and saved his life HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course speed swears I don't mean you any disrespect when I say that I mean both of us, yet he says only he has taught him respect ~ now that just makes my skin crawl. Yes Speed has been a positive influence on Q17 but all of his good qualities didn't just come along once he was in his life, they are qualities that I raised him by myself and would settle for nothing less!!!
However on a better note :biggrin Here is Bo and myself after his no hitter in Athens a few weeks ago................and that is his award around my neck!!! Isn't he handsome :smile
