Cool Programs

|

I run Win2k at home, after having ME for about a year and a half or so (no rotten tomatoes please!)
The feature I liked most about ME was the image viewer it had, 2000 does not (that I have found) so is constantly taking over my browser window to open an image in...which was driving me nuts when I wasn't finished with what I was working on!!
So today, I found a neat little program that works across all platforms, that does the same thing and more...opens in a little pop-up window, you can email and ftp from this window, open it in an image slicer, and an optional feature is the 'right click' menu...right click on the image and it gives you a preview and image size right there (handy when coding pages by hand, like I do).
best of all, its FREE!
http://www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/ and download the 'CoffeeCup Free Viewer Plus'

Another cool program that I have found, is Trillian...it does have a free version, I'm not certain if they've got the patch to unblock yahoo yet (they are working on it however) but Trillian Pro is definitely worth the $25.00 you pay for it...you can access icq, yahoo, msn, AOL, and irc (I don't use irc so can't tell you much about how it works with that) setting preferences for each program is a snap, and it will even tell you when you have email with yahoo, msn and AOL (just like the stand alone programs!)

The last one today, is one I've used for ages, and it's recently been improved.
The google tool-bar has added a pop-up blocker!! The nice thing about this one is it won't prevent pages from opening in a new window like so many of them will...you can search the web or the page you're on right there...and if you're into that sort of thing, can see the 'page ranking' of the page you're on also...very customizable, and easy to set up...and if you're using blogger (and I'm sorry if you are *s*) you can even blog from it!

**note: no, I'm not getting paid to promote any of these programs, they just happen to be some I use and think are useful so I wanted to share them with you :smile **

5 minutes to breathe

it seems like lately in my real life, I haven't had much of this...so this post might not make much sense...

so much has happened in the last week, that had I posted about it, well, it wouldn't have been pretty...perhaps when I get it all sorted out in my head, and don't feel like ripping someone else's off, I'll tell you about it :smile
for right now, all I will say, is when you try to help someone out, not asking for anything in return, just because you think they're your friend...and they turn around and take advantage of that (not to mention rip you off monetarily) how come when they cut you out of their life, because (you assume) you stayed in the 'group' they left, do you get accused of 'using' them, and 'only doing it to get something' from them....when the only thing you GOT was fucked over?
does.not.compute...sorry...someone will have to spell this one out for me...cause I don't see it

work is a royal pain right now...we have a new boss, who seems very nice...just getting her 'trained' is...well, it's different...and now 2 people who decide to take time off...one for surgery, one for other reasons, both who worked on my nights off...but I'm not going to complain about the overtime! :biggrin this company HATES when you get OT!

someone please explain this...

ok, the move to the new server is complete...
my site seems to be ok
Arrrgh!!! seems to be ok
the others are ok as I can see them from MT...
but if I try to go from the links on this page, they haven't resolved yet :sad

it just seems to be problems with the subdomains though...except for buffys

*update* Jet seems to be able to see the new ones now...hopefully the others arn't far behind!!

It's done!

*whew*
I think I got it!!
everything I could export and save before the DNS resolved has been moved over to the new server...
if you can read this...it's working!! *G*
I'm so loving the new place...took less than an hour to import 9 blogs...and if you read some of the others here, not that I'm mentioning any names Jamie, they tend to take up a bit of space :lol
I did this install with mysql, instead of berkley...so far no strange quirks *crossing fingers*

not sure...

how much longer this will be here...
I finally broke down and got my own reseller account :biggrin
I'm totally psyched about this :mouse
however...yesterday, I changed the DNS...still waiting for that change to go through...while I wait, I'm doing my best to keep all my people here from losing any comments or posts.
not an easy task, let me tell ya!
everything else is backed up and ready for transfer, or has already been transfered! (yes, I can ftp into the new site already :biggrin )
so if you view any blogs in the next couple days in the redeagle continuum, and they look a little 'odd' or are not there at all...have no fear, we will return shortly!
oh, and if you need hosting :rofl my email addy's on the sidebar...:thumb

What's in a name?

| | Comments (1)

I found this over at Dailee. Some of it's a bit to close for comfort...

You can do yours here if interested!

Your name of Teresa creates an intense desire for association with people and new experiences, many of which have been rather bitter. This name has given you a gregarious personality and a quick-thinking, creative, and versatile nature, but one that is unstable emotionally. You desire change and travel and would enjoy opportunities that allowed you to be creative and to act independently, rather than to conform to system and routine. However, this name does not allow you to complete your undertakings, as farther fields always look greener. Although you may appear confident and positive, you actually lack confidence and feel self-conscious at times. This name spoils patience and depth of thought, and weakens your stand in matters of principle. You are too open to suggestion, and thus you could become involved in detrimental associations which could lead you into by-paths of thrill-seeking or emotional indulgence.

A friend of mine sent this through a list I'm on, it totally blew me away, and I think it says it all...

where has the time gone?
my 'nights/days off' have been spent still running back and forth working on these computers referenced in the last post...thankfully McAlester is taken care of...Durant would be also if not for the fact the GM can't seem to make up her damn mind how she wants it all set up! :let_it_all_out
middle dude and little dude have both been sick this week, so yesterday was spent taking them to the Dr. both have ear infections...life is never dull, I'm telling ya! :lol
to top all this off, I found out my parents are coming to visit next weekend (major housecleaning mode going on here!) will post more about that later...perhaps...feelings there are probably not what anyone wants to hear anything about...:uhoh3
so the day begins, hopefully I'll get Durant finished up today before I go completely off the deep end :fdup and post again sometime before the next millennium

Comment listing problem

|

For some time I've noticed a problem in some comment boxes, perhaps some of you have run into this also.
In the newer versions of MT, if someone leaves their url when commenting, and you try to click on it, it will open in the same window, which most times cannot be resized, and if you're like me, it's very frustrating! I don't remember the older versions being like this (but I've slept since then *s*)
Anyway, to fix it, open up the 'comment listing template'
under the 'stylesheet' link, place this line

<base target="_blank">

save, rebuild, etc...

**UPDATE: I realized, that you have to also put in target="_self" (or when you post a comment it will also open in a new window) on the line that looks like this

<form method="post" action="<$MTCGIPath$><$MTCommentScript$>" name="comments_form" onsubmit="if (this.bakecookie[0].checked) rememberMe(this)">
should look like this
<form method="post" action="<$MTCGIPath$><$MTCommentScript$>" name="comments_form" onsubmit="if (this.bakecookie[0].checked) rememberMe(this)" target="_self">

this post was brought to you because I needed a place to keep this tip *s*
